What Is Lead Generation Away? And Why Do You Suck At It?

Have you ever asked yourself, "What is lead generation, really?" It's a question that I sought to answer for years while I was struggling to build my home based business.

I always marveled at the people who seem to do it so effortlessly. I was baffled as to how the lead generation companies got all those over-sold leads in the first place. So, here's the skinny on the simple process.

What Do They Know That You And I Don't?

They know how to get people to trust them enough to at least hear what they have to say. Now, it is as simple as that but it does take some effort to simulate the entire process that sorts your interested suspects from your perfect prospect.

Where Does Lead Generation Start: Attraction

Lead Generation starts with an agreement between you and your potential prospect. Your prospects job is to tell you exactly what they want to buy and for how much by giving you clues, hints and down right telling you.

They leave these clues in different ways and in different places. One way is when they buy other stuff similar or related to your products and services.

Another way is they answer surveys and questionnaires in stores and online about what they liked or disliked, want to see more of or could care less about in what they are currently consuming.

Your side of the agreement is to read these clues and interpret them by provide a place where your prospect can self 'sell-ucate'.

To sell-ucate means to provide a place (a webpage, website, blog) that is found by your leads that educates them on who you are, what you do, how you can help them solve their problems, why you are qualified to provide this information and where they can buy their self prescribed solutions when they are good and ready.

That's where all the talk about keyword research and testing becomes important. What better way to know that you have a market for what you want to sell than checking out who and how many are already demanding it?

The more intelligent your interpretation the better for your prospect and the more they will reward you by leaving another clue: Money in your bank!

Lead Generation Part 2: Seduction

After you have gathered the information on your potential prospect you have to present it in an attractive format that is easy to understand, simple to navigate and builds trust and credibility for you.

The big lead generation companies already have the tools and resources to create enticing web pages filled with just enough emotion-jerking copywriting to lower their prospects inhibitions. The objective is to ))squeeze(( their sometimes fake emails and/or wrong number in exchange for low value information or an inexpensive trinket.... hence the quality of some of the leads you've bought in the past.

But, because you've done your home work your going to give your prospect exactly what they were looking for: Information or how to make an educated decision on buying what ever you are selling. Which, not by accident, is the exact solution they were already looking for to solve their urgent problem. And you do this without being dubious.

Lead Generation Part 3: Collection

As a network marketer you objective in the lead generation process it to covert your website visitor into a buying customer or either your business or it's products or services. That can take 1-7 or more encounters with you in the form of on going contact.

You accomplished by inviting your lead to grant you permission to stay in regular contact via a website "contact us" form.

I know you've heard that before, right? You're wondering how to get leads to file out the form?

You ask them by promising to give them a something not found on the site... something reserved only for those special 'insiders' who join the mailing list.

Lead Generation Part 4: Conversion

The Final Step is Lead Conversion. This is the money step. This is where your potential prospects goes from just a browser to a buyer! Which, of course, is you most wanted response, right? Well, sort of.

Let me explain. You have to know exactly who you are looking for to become a customer and partner and you've got to know when you're dealing with someone who doesn't fit the bill. You've got to have the professionalism to know when to say NO.

Is every prospect ideal for you? I hope not. You'll be dragged around by the nose chasing the time wasters and whiners if you drop the ball here.

If a lead makes it this far, to actual one on one contact, and is a poser then you want to review your system for holes in your 'net'work. Conversion is good regardless of what side of the fence your prospects falls on. It's up to you to give the nudge though.
