The "Ground Floor Opportunity" Myth Is About As True As Santa But Without the Gifts

There is a popular assumption that the ground floor opportunity is the best time to "get in" on a business. This includes, but certainly is not limited to, Network marketing/MLM.

This article will explore why buying in on to the myths of a ground floor opportunity could be hazardous to you recruiting efforts as well as any current business partners you may have already.

The People Who Get In First Make All The Money

Similar to the misconception that the people at the top make all the money or any money at all, the idea that only the people who get in first make all the money is a ludicrous recruiting tactic.

If it were true then what kind of long term plan should you have?

Plus, if it were true, how exactly would this group of first make all this money if not from the sweat of there 'late' and destined to be broke downlines?

Don't You Wish You Were On The Ground Floor Opportunity of XYZ Company?

A common question asked by novices and idiots a like is whether you would have liked to be one of the lucky few who started up some big named business. If you're smart you'll remember all the horror stories of the beginnings of even the most successful companies in the world.

The owners and/co-founders will unanimously tell you that you would NOT have wanted to be there on the ground floor.

Every start up has it's hiccups, bumps and bruises even if they make it BIG... eventually. Not everyone's personality, mindset or bank account could take that kind of excitement.

It Makes You A Liar, Inevitably

Assuming you get in on this "ground floor opportunity" and it does work out for you in a big way, what story do you sell the folks 3-5+ years down the road?

It's not "ground floor" anymore so do they join just to continue to pad your bank account?

I can just hear it now: "Well, since you missed the ground floor boat, you can always join and cross your fingers, makes me no difference".

No, you'll have to come up with another myth like, "the proven system does all the recruiting for you".

Give me a break!

Or maybe you don't plan on being around long enough for when the sh!t hits the fan... or should I say the floor?

So, There Really Are Pyramid Schemes

Only in true pyramid schemes is there only one top. The idea is that it's a flash in the pan quick money scheme in which there is a sense of urgency.

That is the only time you should really be concerned about the ground floor because the plan is to rise fast and nose dive sharply. Just like the shape of a pyramid...except with out the lasting power nor the notoriety of being an official "Wonder of the World" .

Most of the time the crash happens with Uncle Sam and a trail of broken lives close behind. Then you wonder why you get the "Is this a pyramid?" objection.

Evergreen Isn't Just For Trees

Evergreen opportunities are the antidote for the scarcity mindset or the ground floor opportunity seekers and the remedy for the peddlers of such win-lose relationships.

I don't know about you but I really care for my team regardless of what level they may fall on in my downline.

I make it a habit to make sure the business opportunities I present are not start-ups nor fads. Unless, of course, you like that kind of stuff which is fine but you still won't hear about them from me.

I can't afford to associate my name with just anything new shiny toy... I'd rather rep Amway since they are obviously evergreen :-).

Besides, regardless of the opportunity, what really matters is finding a hungry crowd that wants what you have to offer with a passion. Check out how you can do that below
